Over the years, EnviroControl Systems has recruited new talent at job fairs and employment workshops. As a certified WBE, we often strike up conversations with young women exploring future careers. We smile when we are asked, “Are there women in HVAC?” because here we stand, women, recruiting for a growing HVAC company.

Women may assume there is little room for them in HVAC. How wrong!

While the physical demands of the HVAC trade may appear challenging, there are dozens of opportunities which tap into a woman’s technical talent. Additionally, there are support positions such as dispatch, warehouse, and supply chain management. Construction accounting is a specialized skill which women easily learn, making them a critical part of a company’s success. Women build successful careers in the field—installation, repair, maintenance, and service.

Scholarships may be available to draw women into the skilled trades. Nationwide trade organizations recognize trade companies who show a commitment to providing women with opportunities.

EnviroControl Systems’ is proud to be home to Ohio Valley ABC’s Craft Woman of the Year finalist, Jessica Arney. Jessica holds an Ohio HVAC license, a designation earned through rigorous testing and maintained through continuing education credits.

Recently, Forbes Magazine reported that women in the trades make 95% of what men make, while the average gender pay gap is 81%. Female technicians frequently report that women express confidence in opening their door to another women, and, in no way, question a female’s technical expertise.
